The Furry 5K raises money for the Help the Animals Fund (HTAF), which provides veterinary care and supplies for sick, injured or abused orphaned shelter animals.

The Seattle Animal Shelter takes in nearly 6,000 animals annually. Of those, many receive the lifesaving care they need thanks to the generous donations of individuals and companies.

The HTAF is an integral part of saving lives – with annual veterinary expenses of approximately $100,000, every dollar raised counts!

I adopted Makai nearly 14 years ago from a county pound in CA. When we got him home we learned he was terribly sick with parvo and wasn't expected to survive. Luckily, he pulled through, but it's had lasting effects on his health his entire life. Making sure our shelters are well-funded to properly care for sick animals is important!

I adopted Shiloh from the Seattle Animal Shelter and was immediately impressed by how much love, care, time and training they put into him and the other animals there. I fully support the shelter and the foundation's Help the Animals Fund as without them, I may have never met or adopted the most kind, gentle, loving and forgiving dog on the planet! It is important that these animals get the care they need so they too can adopt a family that will love them forever.

Ozzie came from the Tacoma Animal Shelter. His previous owner had moved out and abandoned him, but luckily the landlord took him in to the Shelter. They took wonderful care of him and I'm so grateful to them for that! I have been a volunteer at the Seattle Animal Shelter for about four years now and I see the great work they do every day. Ozzie doesn't even mind it (too much!) when I come home smelling like other dogs.
