The Furry 5K raises money for the Help the Animals Fund (HTAF), which provides veterinary care and supplies for sick, injured or abused orphaned shelter animals.

The Seattle Animal Shelter takes in nearly 6,000 animals annually. Of those, many receive the lifesaving care they need thanks to the generous donations of individuals and companies.

The HTAF is an integral part of saving lives – with annual veterinary expenses of approximately $100,000, every dollar raised counts!

Marian and Ozzie's Story

Ozzie was diagnosed with cancer last year - myxosarcoma, which is a tumor of the connective tissue. He had the tumor removed last October and so far he is doing great! We celebrated his 10th birthday in April and look forward to many more Furry 5Ks to come.

Our friend Vivian will be walking with us, too! Archie is staying home again because A. he does not like crowds and B. he has an embarrassing tendency to hump Vivian's leg.

P.S. For those of you who don't know, Archie was a "guest" of the Seattle Animal Shelter before he became part of our family, so Ozzie and I will be forever grateful to them for that. And we also appreciate all the other wonderful work they do for Seattle's homeless animals.
