The Furry 5K raises money for the Help the Animals Fund (HTAF), which provides veterinary care and supplies for sick, injured or abused orphaned shelter animals.

The Seattle Animal Shelter takes in nearly 6,000 animals annually. Of those, many receive the lifesaving care they need thanks to the generous donations of individuals and companies.

The HTAF is an integral part of saving lives – with annual veterinary expenses of approximately $100,000, every dollar raised counts!

WALKING FOR DILLINGER

Please join us in the fundraising effort for this awesome organization & event.

Dillinger participated in the 2014 Furry 5k and loved it - he loved the walk and the other dogs that walked with him.  He was able to participate in this event due to the skilled hands of Dr. Sanders of Seattle Veterinary Specialists (also a sponsor) as he repaired Dillinger's 2 ruptured disks.

Dillinger would have been walking this event again this year had he not been taken too soon in October of 2014.

We are walking this event in honor of the best little Frenchie anyone could ever want - Dillinger never wanted for anything love or otherwise and we want to try and make sure other doggies get the chance at the perfect life like Dillinger had.

Thank you Dillinger for the best 4.5 years a Frenchie Mommie could have asked for - LOVE YOU - ALWAYS!

Walking For Dillinger

Dillinger was my perfect little frenchie -  he was known affectionately as "angel dog", Mr. Fuzzy Butt, squeaker killer, Pickle and my little football pig for 4.5 years. He was the runt of the litter - he was bottle fed as a pup and because of that loved being held - 'til the day he died.  He was just sooooo special.  He loved everyone and had the best little personality.  He loved going on walks, dog parks, meeting new friends (furry or not) and he loved his family to the ends of the earth.

At 3 years old he had to have his first back surgery for a ruptured disk (L5) and then 10 months later had another disk rupture (L3) both surgeries were completed at Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland, WA.  They were wonderful with him as well as myself during the whole process - from surgery to rehab - every person at SVS was amazing.

Dillinger was taken from me by a negligent driver on a walk in October - all because they didn't check their review mirror - they just backed up.  One second my baby was here - the next he was gone.  I loved every minute with him.

It's for him that I am doing this walk with my new little baby - a brindle frenchie named "Toothless Severus".  Dillinger was a runt with back issues at the age of 3 - there are few people that I know that would willingly invest in a runt, and also go through 2 surgeries by the age of 4.  But I would do it all again just to have Dillinger back.

So if you can - please help me in this journey/Furry 5K to give all animals a home - they all deserve one - broken, damaged or runts still deserve a chance at a life filled with love and warmth.
