The Furry 5K raises money for the Help the Animals Fund (HTAF), which provides veterinary care and supplies for sick, injured or abused orphaned shelter animals.

The Seattle Animal Shelter takes in nearly 6,000 animals annually. Of those, many receive the lifesaving care they need thanks to the generous donations of individuals and companies.

The HTAF is an integral part of saving lives – with annual veterinary expenses of approximately $100,000, every dollar raised counts!

We are raising funds to help shelter animals obtain needed medical care. Believe me, many animals enter shelters with painful injuries and/or untreated, chronic debilitating conditions that require a lot of effort to treat, and heal, to the point where they can go on to live happy lives. These guys are our responsibility. Ghandi once said that “The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members”. Shelter animals are a good example, and often have had no one to speak for them or care for them. One of my best rewards is seeing a dog or cat who was in poor condition blossom and become a happy critter with good care. Help us fix up more of them!
